Who is willing to risk it all?

Who is willing to risk it all?

Some are not given the choice. Some have nothing left to risk.

Their homes are taken. Their livelihoods stolen. Their voices are silenced.

Their very right to exist does not exist.

So who can say with a full-throated declaration

“The meek do not claim any rights”?

The meek have not been given a voice to claim anything

so how can they claim it?

They risk it all because they have no choice.

I am unfit to claim the title of meek.

I am no widower, no orphan, no dispossessed of any stripe.

I am not silenced, for they have not thought to silence me.

Because I am not, it is my task

to proclaim

that the meek will inherit the earth.

O Lord, you will hear the desire of the meek;
you will strengthen their heart, you will incline your ear
to do justice for the orphan and the oppressed,
so that those from earth may strike terror no more.

Psalm 10:17-18

He rejects your reality, and replaces it with a vision of what could be, a better one, shaped by his love for God.
